The initial inspiration for the Croatian Hollywood project was a sentence by Đelo Hadžiselimović: “Croatia is a little Hollywood.” It was this thought that prompted the authors to connect Croatian film history with modern technology and the tourist experience, creating a project that connects the past, present and future, film, fiction and reality, education, art and tourism.

The Croatian Hollywood project, developed by editor and director Darko Duda and director and producer Bruno Grgurić, once again puts Croatian film locations in the spotlight — not only as backdrops for major world film productions, but also as tourist destinations with their own unique stories and interesting heritage.

Two recent media releases further confirm the size and importance of the project.

In an article published in the print edition and on the 24sata portal, the authors explain how the initial idea for a documentary series grew into a national project that will mark key film locations across Croatia. Information boards with QR codes will be placed on them, allowing visitors to view scenes shot at that location on the spot. This approach creates a completely new cultural tourism experience — interactive, educational and emotionally connected to the film.

The text in Novi list emphasizes that for decades, some of the world’s most famous films and series have been filmed on Croatian locations — from Winnetou to Star Wars. The Croatian Hollywood project wants to pull these locations out of oblivion, map them, connect them into a single system and present them to a domestic and international audience. Film experts, historians and technical advisors from Croatia and the world are participating in the implementation, which further underlines the professional background of the project.
